STOTT PILATES VIRTUAL & IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS

 

Be Pilates New Zealand (NZ’s Licensed Training Centre for Merrithew – STOTT PILATES/Total Barre/Fascial Movement Education), offer both in-person + live online workshops.

 

The Workshops are open to EVERYONE who are wanting to start their Instructor journey (as no pre-reqs are required) or for those who are wanting a little taster of what STOTT PILATES is all about.  They’re also perfect for current Instructors who want to up-skill, complete their professional development credits and expand their Pilates offering.

The Workshops will be presented either in-person at different locations from around New Zealand or from the STOTT PILATES New Zealand Licensed Training Centre in the Hawke’s Bay to your bubble via a Zoom video link.  The virtual experience will be enhanced with great technology and will remain a fun and non-intimidating means of keeping your mind and body engaged in learning while you have the time to give back to you!!

STOTT PILATES Workshops are renowned to be action packed, full of valuable information, relevant repertoire and teaching techniques that can be utilised in your current Zoom + upcoming in-person Matwork client classes, or learned and refined before you attend a STOTT PILATES course.

Wednesday 01 May 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Postural Analysis Review Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

This workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, outlines the importance of postural analysis in programming STOTT PILATES® workouts. Discuss the differences between static and dynamic posture and consider how each affects exercise choices and modifications necessary. Review postural theory relating to the effect of certain postures on muscle length and strength and actively practice postural analysis.

Learning objectives

  1. Review the steps in conducting a formal postural analysis

  2. Learn how to identify muscular imbalances as they relate to faulty posture

  3. Practice locating bony landmarks and palpating structures

  4. Understand how postural issues play into exercise programming

Thursday 02 May 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Examinations Information Session Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

Exams can be intimidating, especially when you are unsure how to study and prepare. This information session helps to explain what materials to review and how to prepare for both written and practical portions of the STOTT PILATES® exams. This session provides a general overview of the exam and detailed structure of each portion of the exam. Participants will review which areas are tested for the written exam and what needs to be included in the practical exam.

  1. Recognize the benefits of getting certified in STOTT PILATES

  2. Understand the structure of STOTT PILATES Certification Examinations

  3. Learn what materials to review and how to study for the examination

  4. Know what type of questions will be on the written exam; as well as what will be expected on the practical exam

Thursday 06 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Conditioning for Golf & Rotational Power on the Mat Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

This spirited workshop, one of the latest offerings in the Merrithew® Athletic Conditioning Track, includes a dynamic warm up designed specifically to prepare the mind and body for golf. It can be used for warming up on the range or at home before heading out to the course. Both the warm up and the mat-based workout that follows, prepare the body physically and neuro-muscularly to take on the challenges of the sport and improve performance while avoiding injury. Ideal for off-season training, this program helps maintain physical conditioning when time on the course decreases. The specific exercises chosen build on the dynamic movements in the warm up, increasing the essential body awareness needed to increase mobility with stability and strength imperative for a successful golf game.

  1. Learn a dynamic warm up that prepares the body for the demands of golf.

  2. Learn the important aspects of the golf swing and movements that will condition the body.

Friday 07 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Conditioning for Golf & Rotational Power with Weights Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

Stability with mobility and explosive power are key elements of a great golf swing, but how can off-course training help? A targeted dynamic warm-up followed by specific conditioning exercises, can significantly improve golf performance and increase club head speed. Another new addition to the Merrithew® Athletic Conditioning Track, this golf-specific workshop features a warm-up that incorporates weighted Toning Balls providing added resistance, neuromuscular challenge and range of motion movements. These prepare the body physically, while directed breathing cues help encourage mindfulness, focus and awareness. The strengthening program that follows brings these elements together and facilitates increased quality of movement, providing the optimal balance of mobility and stability, crucial components in improved performance. (Note: home weights can replace weighted toning balls).

  2. Learn how breath and focus can create a better golf swing.

Monday 17 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Dynamic Armchair Pilates™ Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

If restricted mobility does not permit a client to lie on the floor or other equipment, this workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, shows exercise variations in an upright, seated position. In addition to exploring movements incorporating the gentle resistance of the STOTT PILATES® Flex-Band® exerciser, participants work through a number of exercises performed in a supported standing position to help develop balance and coordination.

Learning objectives

  1. Apply the STOTT PILATES Principles of stabilization to select seated exercises

  2. Lean supported movements in a standing position focusing on proper form

  3. Understand why STOTT PILATES is beneficial in cases of restricted mobility and how to modify for this clientele

  4. Learn cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness

Tuesday 18 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Prenatal Matwork with Stability Ball™ & Flex-Band® Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

The Stability Ball is a perfect tool to use with prenatal clients and adding resistance with the Flex-Band® exerciser delivers a safe and effective workout for moms-to-be. In this interactive seminar, developed by the Merrithew® team, apply the most current medical information, exercise guidelines and research available on pregnancy and movement to innovative STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations. Learn programming concepts for teaching small groups and private clients specifically in the second trimester. Discuss anatomical and physiological changes, risk factors and movement considerations and leave with strategies for building new prenatal programs as well as enhancing those already in progress.

Learning objectives

  1. Understand appropriateness of STOTT PILATES as well as possible contraindications during pregnancy

  2. Hear information about physiological changes throughout all three trimesters

  3. Examine specific exercise modifications using the Stability Ball and Flex-Band

Wednesday 19 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Post-Natal Pilates Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

Most women are able to return to exercise four to six weeks after a regular birth or when they get clearance from their physician. Many of the exercises performed during the second and third trimester of pregnancy will be suitable now, but other exercises can be added to focus on reactivating and stabilizing the pelvic floor, transversus abdominis and obliques as well as developing lumbo-pelvic stability. This gentle but effective workout, developed by the Merrithew® team, incorporates Toning Balls™ to get new moms back on the right track.

  2. Discover how to modify for the needs of this special population

  3. Understand how to incorporate Toning Balls in a post-natal workout

Thursday 20 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Flexion-Free Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

Fitness and Pilates Instructors meet a variety of clients who are restricted in their movements for a variety of reasons. Often, spinal flexion is contraindicated due to some specified concern. Learn how to modify Pilates exercises in a range of intensity levels to create workouts that achieve the primary goal of limiting spinal flexion while providing an effective full-body workout. Small handweights, Stability Cushions and the Flex-Band® exerciser are used to increase upper body resistance while further challenging the stability of the torso in a neutral alignment.

Learning objectives

  1. Discuss how the STOTT PILATES® Principles apply when movement is restricted

  2. Discover how to create a challenging workout without altering spinal alignment

  3. Learn to incorporate small handweights in a full flexion-free workout

  4. Explore exercise modifications in order to keep the workout safe

Friday 21 June 2024 | STOTT PILATES® Pilates Matwork for Men Workshop 12.30pm-2.30pm | Live via Zoom | $185 including comprehensive workshop notes & GST

Get down on the Mat for a workout that’s not for the faint-hearted. Welcome to the full-body workout athletes swear by for sports conditioning, cross training and a strong, injury-resistant core. With this workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team, every last muscle will feel this challenging routine that uses Toning Balls™ and innovative exercise choices to focus on precision and control.

Learning objectives

  1. Apply the STOTT PILATES® Principles to specific exercises on the Mat.

  2. Learn specific exercises designed to challenge male clients.

  3. Understand how these exercises challenge strength, stability and coordination.

  4. Learn cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness.

 

Attendance

In-person + Live via zoom workshop group attendance will be restricted up to 18 participants only.

There is no pre-requisite to attend these workshops, all participants are welcome! Comprehensive notes included.

Price: 

STOTT PILATES 2hr workshops: NZ$185. Includes comprehensive workshop notes + GST.

CECs:

Full Merrithew continued education credits will be offered for STOTT PILATES workshops.  Excellent method of receiving your yearly professional development credits, without additional travel expenses.  All training will be registered with Merrithew and a letter of completion will be sent to you directly from Merrithew Head Office.  In order to receive full credit of participation, students must complete and physically participate in the full online workshop and adhere to the Merrithew policies & procedures.

Equipment & Workshop Notes

For online training, students must have the correct props in order to take the workshop, (e.g. have a Flex-Band to attend the Flex-Band workshop). 

Props will be supplied for in-person training.

We will send you exclusive digital PDF workshop notes prior to the workshop starting for online training. In-person training will offer printed workshop notes at the start of each workshop.
